Birching Table

Here’s a genuine Russian birching table. Apparently, women prisoners were secured face down on the table with their bottoms bared. Guards would then stand each side armed with wet birching rods and would proceed to rain down alternate lashes on the woman’s quivering buttocks until the sentence had been carried out. I’m not sure whether the guards would have been male or female – but either scenario offers ample scope for titillating fantasy.
